Description
Scientists are pretty sure that Brokeoff Mountain on the far left used to be connected to Mt. Lassen on the right, and the whole thing formed what they call Mt. Tehama. It would have been a spectacular peak, but the massive eruption that blew it apart sometime in the distant past created a perfect spot for the sun to set for this picture. Shot from the shore of Lake Almanor. The "sunburst" in the photo is not an added "photoshop" creation, it is the result of shooting directly into a partially obscured sun with a very high lens aperature... It turns out the sweet spot for creating a sunburst with this particular lens is at f/16.
